Welcome back to another episode of Followers of the Way. I'm your host, Jeremiah. And in today's episode, we're going to talk about hope. What does hope mean to you? What does it look like? Is hope wishful thinking? Is hope a state of mind? Is hope fear trying to sound positive? What is hope? We're going to break that down. Hit the like, the share, the subscribe button. We are called followers of the way. Why? Yahusha said he is the way, therefore making us followers of the way. All right, let us jump into this. Heavenly Father, in the name of Yahushua, give us eyes to see, give us ears to hear, give us a heart to understand what your spirit is saying to us about hope. All right. I want you to think about this. What is hope? What does hope look like to you? Is hope wishful thinking? Now there's no wrong answer. I'm here to educate you. All right. I want you to think about something while you're thinking about what hope is to you. Here's a question. I want to challenge your thought process. If you believe that Yahuwah is eternal and he knows the beginning from the end, and there's a system that comes with a lot of promises, but can't guarantee you those promises. Would you put your trust, your faith in the eternal Yahuwah? Or would you put your faith in a system that has all of these promises, but not sure if you can get each and every one? I want you to think about that. And we're going to come back to that. All right. Now, what I'm about to say is not to condemn you, it's not to belittle you, is to challenge you, is to awaken you, is to educate you. I'm about to say something that we all say, and it doesn't make sense. Again, don't get offended, but it doesn't make sense. But we're going to make it make sense here shortly. But we say this a time or two, and I'm guilty of saying this. I hope things get better. Relax. Think about that. Say it with me. I hope things get better. Let me ask you a question. What does that mean? What does it mean? I hope things get better. This is why that doesn't make sense. In order for that to make sense, we must, you must first define what is hope. First, in order for it to make sense. Because you're hoping for something to get better, but you don't know what hope is. So how can it become better when you don't know what you're hoping for to get better or you don't know what hope is? It's like having a solution without a problem. How do you have a solution and you don't have a problem? You got to define the problem in order to get the solution. You got to define hope in order for a better outcome. Here's another one. I hope I make it. Now I like this one. Let me tell you why. Because it shows that a person doesn't know their belief. What do you mean? Okay. I hope I make it. Okay, first off, what are you trusting in in order for you to make it? You must first identify what is needed in order for you to make it. Now, if you know what is needed in order for you to make it, you will not say, I hope I make it. You would say, I know what is needed in order for me to make it. That makes better sense, right? Okay. Here's another one. I hope this works out. Okay. I like this one because it's kind of like positive and a negative. I hope this works out. Is that faith or is that fear trying to sound positive? I hope it works out. You don't sound too sure about the outcome. Now we all say these things because we've been conditioned by repetition to say it, but we have not been educated to understand the full context of what we're saying. And that's the problem when it comes to hope. When we say I hope things work out, when we say I hope I make it, when we say, I hope things get better, we must understand what hope is first. Because if we don't understand what hope is, then we really don't understand faith. Now, I know that's big for me to say, you don't understand faith if you don't understand hope. But stay with me. It's all going to make sense. Now, you don't want to believe me? Let's go to the Bible. See, the Bible gives us a better understanding of what this word hope really means. In the book of Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 1, it says, Now, say that. I want you to relax. Now, right? You had a long day. You're going through a lot right now. Say it with me. Now, Hebrews 11:1. Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. What does that mean? That means that the word hope is not empty. That means the word hope is not wishful thinking. That means the word hope does not mean hope things get better. That tells us the word hope is tied to faith. Faith gives substance to the things hoped for. Notice what the Bible says. Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for. So faith is the substance of hope. So if faith is the substance of the things hoped for, now let's go back to some questions. What are you hoping for? You don't know? Okay. Who are you hoping in? You don't know? Okay. In order to hope for something, you must first understand who are you hoping in in order to truly understand hope. And that's why I said, if you don't understand who or what hope is, then you don't understand faith. Don't take my word for it. Ephesians 11 says faith is the substance of hope. All right. Let me give you a better example. If you put your hope in money, then your faith is in money. Your substance of your hope is money. If you put your hope in man, then your faith is in man. If you put your hope in a government, then your faith is in government. If you put your hope in Yahuwah, then your faith is Yahuwah. So what do that mean? Whatever you put your faith in becomes your hope, and your hope becomes your expectation. So what is hope? Hope is expectation. So it sounds like this. You put your hope in man, then your faith is in man, and you expect that man to do. See what I mean? If you put your faith in the government, then your hope is in the government and you hope and expect that government to do. And when our expectations is not meant, we feel some type of way, right? So hope means expectation. But expectation alone is not enough. Expectation must have a source tied to it, right? The book of Psalms, chapter 62, verse 5 says this my soul wait only on Aluah Yahuwah, for my expectation is from him. So David said, My faith is in you, you are my hope. So my expectation in life is you. That is hope. My expectation is in him. King David did not put his expectations in the world, people, numbers, or strength, or his control. His expectation was in Yahuwah. So when I ask you what is hope, I'm also I'm also asking you is what does your expectation come from? Where does it come from? Where does your expectation come from? What are you waiting on? What are you counting on? What are you leaning on? In your situation, who who make the final word? What are you expecting? What are you hoping to achieve from this? Okay. The people of Yahuwah had an expectation. When their enemies came to attack them, they didn't put their faith in numbers, they didn't put their faith in themselves, they didn't put their faith in men. They put their faith in Yahuwah. Throughout the Old Testament, every time they went to battle, they put their faith in who? Yahuwah. So their expectation of victory was not based on themselves. They were not counting on themselves. They was not leaning on themselves. They didn't say, We got the final outcome. We know we're going to win. No, they said we're going to win because we expect Yahuwah to deliver us. That was their expectation. So the people of Yahuwah put their faith and hope in Yahuwah. I'm going to say that again. The people of Yahuwah put their faith, their hope in Yahuwah. So our victories as believers, our expectation of our victory, of our deliverance, of our strength. We expect the Father to give us the victory, the delivery. We expect that. And so far, he has done that. He said when he laid down his life on the stake, he would give us eternal life. We expect that. He said our sins are forgiven. We expect that. He said that we are delivered. We expect that. He said he would not remember our sins no more. We expect that based off what, Jeremiah? Yahuwah. Not me, not man, not the world, not my family, but my expectation, my hope of deliverance, my hope of forgiveness is only in Yahuwah. King David says in the book of Psalms, chapter 20, verse 7, some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of Yahuwah. That verse shows the difference. Some trust in chariots, some in horses, but the people of Yahuwah remember his name. Now, in today's language, some people put trust in money, status, government, education, followers, ability. Some trust in who they know. Now, am I here to condemn those who want to put their trusts outside of Yahuwah? No, no, no, no. David said it. He said, some trust in chariots, some trust in horses, but the believers of Yahuwah put their trust in the name Yahuwah. So I'm not here to condemn you. Who is your hope or who is your faith? I'm here to educate you, to show you what hope is. So I would like to give you a life lesson. When people are counting on a victory or outcome outside of Yahuwah, there's nothing wrong with that, but there's consequences. You got to understand in this life, in the life to come, we only have for sure victory inside of Yahuwah. Remember King David. Now, King David was a man, the Bible says, after Yahuwah's own heart. I want to show you something in the book of 2 Samuel, chapter 24, verse 2. David told Joab and the captains to go out and number the tribes of Israel and come back and let me know how many people is under me. Joab said, No, no, no. I don't think that's a good ideal. Our strength comes from Yahuwah. He give, he added to us. King David said, No, no, no, no. I know what I'm doing. I'm a leader. I'm strategic. You go out and you number the people. So Joab listened to the king. Joab went out and he numbered the people and he reported back to David. Now, let me show you the different mindsets. Now, to some that look like leadership. To some, that look strategic. To some, that look like preparation. And it is. If you are in charge of a unit, you should know how many soldiers you have for strategy purposes, for preparation purposes. That's great leadership. It's nothing wrong with counting. But David did something differently. David said in the book of Samuel, chapter 2, verse 24, 10, David came to his senses, and David's heart smote him after he had counted the people. David said, What I have done, I have sinned against you, Yahuwah. Forgive me. For what I did was foolish. I went out and I numbered the people. I was prideful. I thought my strength was in numbers. I thought my victories was in number. I put my substance, I put my faith in the number of people I have. So my expectation of victory was in the number of the people I had. And King David seen that he was wrong. Now, here's the consequences. Yahuwah sent the prophet Gad and told David, you got three options, King David. Seven years of famine, three months on the runs from your enemy, or pleasance in your in your own land. Pick and choose. David said, No, no, I ain't picking nothing. I'm gonna let the Father, Yahuwah, pick for me. So Yahuwah disciplined David. 70,000 people lost their lives. Now, was David wrong for counting the people? Absolutely not. David was wrong because he put his faith in the number of people, and he forgot who gives him victory. He forgot who gives him deliverance. Now we can all learn from that because we're all guilty of this. It's really easy to get caught up in ourselves, our status, what we have, our blessing, our money, our job, our prestige. It's really easy to think and believe it is us, it's pride. And we shift our faith in our abilities. And when our expectations are not met, we begin to lose hope. That's the dangers about not putting your faith in the main source. Now, you can choose to believe what you want to believe. You can choose to put your faith in whatever you put your faith in, but you got to understand that the people of Yahuwah put their faith and their hope in Yahuwah. Now, here's another life lesson I want to show you when it comes to Hebrews chapter 11, verse 1. There was a prophet that had a servant, and you can find this story in the book of 2 Kings, chapter 6, verse 14. Now the king of Aram sent some chariots, sent some horses and some soldiers, and they encamped the whole city. The servant of the prophet Elijah woke up. Master, get up. There's chariots, there's horses, and we are all surrounded by these people. What are we going to do? Now the prophet said something that is striking. Prophet woke up, he seen the chariots, he seen the horses, he seen that they were surrounded. But he says something really profound. He said in 2 Kings 6:16, fear not, for they that are with us are more than they that are with them. Hold on now. The servant was like, Hey uh, have you been drinking? Notice what the prophet said. He did not, he wasn't delusional, like some think we are, believers. The prophet noticed the chariots, he noticed the armies, he noticed the horses, but he said, Fear not, there's more with us than with them. What the servant was like, based off what I see, based off what I see, we are outnumbered. Hebrews chapter 11, verse 1. Now faith. Hallelujah. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The prophet seen something differently. The prophet seen that his faith was tied to his hope, and his hope was there's more with us than with them. I'm so sure about it. The prophet said, he said in the book of 2 Kings 6:17, he prayed. He said, Yahuwah, I pray, open up his eyes that he may see. And Yahuwah opened the eyes of the young man, and the young men saw and behold, the mountain that they were standing upon was full of horses and chariots of fire. That is the difference between fear and hope. Fear says, I hope this worked out. But if you can't define hope, how can it work out? The prophet said, This definitely gonna work out. Why? Because there's more with us than with them. I don't see that. Open up his eyes that he can see that it's already there. Fear sees what is against you, hope remembers who it is that is with you. Fear counts the enemy, hope remembers Yahuwah. Fear says, What are we going? To do. Hope says there's more with us than with them. What can we learn from this? Because when we put our hope in the things we see, and when we can't see it no more, we lose hope. So if you put your faith in the ability of what you see, then the hope of your expectation is based on what you see. Now, if you put your faith in Yahuwah, and even though you can't see it, go back to the original question. Would you believe in the one that can see the beginning from the end versus a system that gives you promises to say, I hope it works out? But when we put our faith in what we see or cannot see, but our faith is in the one that sees it all, then we know we have victory. The prophet's expectation was, we will be okay. I don't care how many people was out here, we be okay. Why? Because my faith, my expectation is in Yahuwah. I believe it so much. Father, open up this servant's eyes that he may see. And what did he see? There was more. That's the difference between the mindset of the world and the mindset of the believer. Now, let's look at the world. Now, you got to understand, we were conditioned by repetition to think this way. The Bible says we were born into sin shaped in iniquity. We were born into a system where the world put their hope in man, money, system, power, image, success, control, and self. What do you mean? Okay. We were all born hearing this. Go to school, get a good education, for you can be successful. We all heard that, right? So we were born with the mindset put faith in education. Why? Put faith in money. Why? Then we'd be successful. What happens when it doesn't work? Uh-oh, we were not trained for that. They didn't teach us that this may not work. It's a system that has many premises, but can't give you a guarantee. So we went to school. We got the education, but the economy is not flourishing. I can't find a job, right? Now we say this. I hope it works out. Come on now. I hope it gets better. I hope this works. Why? Because they didn't teach us, they didn't teach us, hey, if it doesn't work out, it's okay. Put your faith in the one that can guarantee you better than what we can guarantee you. They don't teach us that. They teach us to say things that don't make sense. I hope it gets better. What is hope? To you. I hope it works out. What is hope to you? Right? If you don't know what hope is, how can it work out? How can it get better? So you've been programmed to fail. You've been programmed to have a hopeless state of mind. What is hope to you? You gotta understand what is hope. Yeah, there's no wrong or right answer. The book of Psalms 118.8 says it is better to trust in Yahuwah than to put confidence in man. And that's what the world has done to a lot of us. A lot of us put confidence in ourselves and amen. And it's nothing wrong with that. I'm not here to condemn, I'm only here to educate. But I must also blow the whistle, sound the trumpet, and let you know there's consequences. So when we ask ourselves, what is hope? Once again, what comes to mind? If you tell me your hope, I can tell you your faith. But if you cannot tell me your hope, then what I can say to you, you have a hopeless state of mind. Now, I know that's heavy. Let me help you understand. When a person can say, I know this is going to work out because fill in whatever blank you want to fill in. They put their faith in that. This is going to work out. I got a smart team of people with me. We got all the resources, we got all the data analysis. This will work out. Their faith is in their abilities, their faith is in their mechanics. So they showed me their hope. Their hope is in themselves and in men. They're not hopeless. They've showed me where their hope lies. So they are expecting man data analysis and resources to make it happen. Now, if you say to me, my faith is in Yahusha, then your hope is Yahusha. So you are expecting Yahusha to do according to his promises. You are expecting Yahusha to do according to his word. Now, if you say to me, I don't trust nobody, everybody that I trusted before failed me. I don't trust nobody. I just trust myself. Okay, great. Your hope is in you. But if you say to me, I lost who I am, I don't trust nobody no more, then you got a hopeless state of mind. This is why hope and knowing what hope is is important. When you understand hope, you would never talk this way. You ready? I hope this works out. You would never say that. Why? Because you know what is needed to work out. I hope it gets better. You won't say that. Why? Because you know what is needed to make it work out. So you're going to say the opposite. You will say, This will work out. Why? I pray and I fast and I believe I heard from the Father. And he told me to be patient. He's going to do it. You see that? You didn't say, I hope it worked out. You had the answer. You didn't say, I hope this worked. No, you had the answer. Why? Because your faith was anchored in Yahusha. Hebrews chapter 6, verse 19 says, Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast. So hope is an anchor. An anchor does not mean there's no storm. All right. An anchor means something is holding you while the storm is moving. That is why hope in Yahuwah is important. It holds our soul. It keeps us from drifting. It keeps us from being ruled by fear. It reminds you that you have a greater anchor that is in control and that will give you the guarantees that you need. That anchor keeps you from drifting into a state of mind where you feel hopeless. So let me ask you again. What is hope to you? What does it look like? What is hope to you? Is hope just wishing? Is hope just wanting things to get better? Is hope just something you say when you are afraid? Define hope now. What do you come up with? Or is hope truly in Yahuwah? Because hope reveals your faith. Like I said, show me your faith and I'm gonna tell you your hope. If your hope is in the world, then your faith is in the world. If your hope is man, then your faith is man. If your hope is yourself, then your faith is yourself. But if your hope, hope is Yahuwah, then Yahuwah is your faith, your hope. So when this message is over, I want you to think about a few things. I want you to ask yourself these questions. What am I hoping for? Now that you understand hope? Who am I trusting in? Now that you know where your faith lies, whether the world or Yahoo, that is your hope. What is my expectation coming from? The things you're hoping to get. Who's gonna do it? Who's gonna make it happen? Who do you expect to perform this? I want you to ask yourself, am I counting chariots and horses, or am I remembering the covenant of Yahuwah? Act yourself, am I counting what is against me? Am I looking at my circumstances and reacting? Or am I praying to the Father to give me eyes that I can't see? So that I can see, give me eyes so that I can see. Because faith is the substance of things hoped for. So if you want to understand your faith, examine your hope. And if you examine your hope, it'll tell you your faith. Now I want to leave you with this Ephesians chapter 3, verse 20. It says, Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us. Show down. What power worketh in you? Notice what it says. Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ax, according to the power that worketh in you. Hebrews 11:1. Now faith. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seeing that power that worketh in you. It's your ability to say, I choose to believe in the words of Yahuwah. And my faith is in him, my hope is Yahuwah. Therefore, I expect him to do what? Exceedingly, abundantly, whatever I ask or think, because of my faith in him. Now that's a guarantee you can take to the bank. Right. So I know what a lot of people are thinking, and let me challenge you here when it comes to guarantees. Going back to the original question. Will you believe in a deity, Yahuwah, that can see the beginning and the ending, the ending from the beginning, versus a system that can give you promises without guarantees. I want you to realize something. Let me educate you here. Let me bring something to your attention that is important. Nothing in this life or the life to come can give you a guarantee. Really? No. No. Nothing in this life can give you a guarantee or the life to come outside of Yahhuwah. Yahuwah says, He come to give us life and that more abundantly. Yes, a guarantee. Yahuwah says, I go to prepare a place for you. So where I am, you may be also. That's a guarantee. Yahuwah says that those who believe in me shall never see death nor taste death. Those are guarantees that Yahuwah has promised us. He said, Our names are written in the Lamb's book of life. Those are guarantees according to our faith in him. Show me your hope, I will show you your faith. If you put your faith in him, those are guarantees that comes with your hope in Yahuwah. So expect eternal life. Expect great things. Expect deliverance. Expect salvation. Expect forgiveness. Those are guarantees. Now, let me ask you a question. Who else can guarantee you that? And deliver according to promise. The world can give us a bunch of promises, but they can't guarantee it. The world can say, go to school and get a good education. You might get a good job, but we can't guarantee it. Yahoosha says, his thoughts towards you and I are good and not evil. And he expects us to have a successful end. Now and that's a guarantee. What does hope look like to you? And if you haven't figured it out by now, your hope is your faith. So the question is whose report do you believe? Do you believe the report of Yahuwah that says you are free, you have eternal life, and he has given you the victory? Well, that's a guarantee. Or do you believe the report of man? Go to school, get a good education, and get a good job. And how many baby boomers did not get that guarantee? Show me your faith, and I will show you your hope. And with all things, get knowledge. Because here we keep Yahushua as king. Until next time.
